PRINTING TIPS

Most of these panoramas are in one of the following ratios: 16:9 (same as your HD-TV), 2:1, 2.5:1, or 3:1. Try to order a size that matches the ratio of the print, for example, a print that's 3:1 will print nicely at 12 x 36 inches (or 24 x 72, but call me if you want to do that!). But it won't print at 12 x 24. If you try to print a 3:1 picture as a 2:1 print, you will have a skinnier picture (big margins top and bottom). If you go the other way and try to print a 2:1 image as a 3:1 print you will have to crop big chunks out of the top and bottom -- which will ruin the image.

16:9 is close enough to 2:1 so you can get away with it with very little damage (depending on the image).

To determine the ratio of any image here, click the "i" button in the drop-down menu that appears when you move your cursor over the image. It will tell you the dimensions in pixels. Divide the larger number by the lower number and that's your ratio. Then pick the print size that is the best fit for that ratio.

These pictures are almost all able to enlarge to and beyond any size offered by Smugmug. If you want really large prints, contact me. Some of these will go to 3x6 FEET without looking grainy, pixelated, or fuzzy.
